ISO45001 – Change Approved!

Approved

We are very pleased to announce that Electrical Testing have been granted the much coveted ISO 45001 standard for Occupational Health and Safety. ISO 45001 takes over from ISO18001 but it is not simply a like for like replacement.

ISO 45001 concentrates on the interaction between an organisation and its business environment while OHSAS 18001 was focused on managing OH&S hazards and other internal issues and this change highlights a significant shift in the way that health and safety management is viewed.

There were several steps in transitioning from 18001 to 45001 which have all been undertaken by our COSH, Health and Safety Manager, Simon Hobbs and our chief engineer and compliance manager, James Barker. This is the first year that we have audited and managed our own Integrated Management System and we were delighted when assessed by NQA to have been approved for ISO 45001 status.

This ISO 45001 standard sits alongside our other ISO standards 9001 (Quality Management) and 14001 (Environmental Management) which are all integral to the running of the business and demonstrating to our clients our professionalism. They are required when bidding for works and support our tender opportunities.

Our managing director Simon Hobbs says, “A lot of time and hard work has gone into gaining this accreditation and I’m confident this will enable us to grow further and support our clients in future large scale projects. We are also looking at other standards we can achieve to further our professionalism, starting with ISO 17020 (Conformity assessment) which will recognise us a competent inspection body and will sit alongside our UKAS accreditation for Inspection which we gained at the start of the year.”
